Since opening Wheelie World we have been sent hoverboards of all shapes and sizes that have been sent to customers in the uk through online sites selling cheap hoverboards at bargain prices.
Too Good to be true??
Savings have to be made somewhere right? the Biggest saving anyone can make is in one of the most expensive parts of an assembly, cut costs and you can cut prices.
For example, below we have one of our Premium Samsung battery’s next to a Very poor, unsafe and cheap battery. It has half the cells, less than half the power at 1.8ma instead of 4.4ma and would be lucky if it lasted 10 min before requiring a recharge, luckily it failed after only a month without causing any fires or further damage to the customers house or family members and the customer brought it to us for a repair. Needless to say the customer was shocked to find out what they had been sold and that they had such lucky escape.
Unfortunately the above battery is not a one off. Time and time again customers bring us broken boards for us to look at and once we open them up we can see the levels these companies will go to in order to save money.
One battery even had dud battery’s, unconnected and taped on top of a really poor battery just to add weight. This practice is very dangerous so please take care, do your research and ask the right questions when making a decision to purchase.
As an example our Premium Battery Samsung Battery are £69.99 on offer, we do have a cheaper alternative that meets safety standards but it is half the amps so won’t last as long. This is another way company’s can save money and reduce costs. We Stock a well known 36v 2.2ah battery and use these on certain repairs when the customer has requested we do so, our cheaper alternatives are £40-£45 but have reduced capacity at 2.2ah instead of 4.4ah.

How to Make your Hoverboard Battery Last
There are tips you follow to help your hoverboard battery last. However, be aware that all batteries eventually wear out, no matter how good.
Even with the best of care, battery life and battery capacity naturally deplete with time.
Anyways, here are a few tips to keep in mind to enable your hoverboard battery last.
1. Do Not Overcharge
Try not to let the battery charge for too long. Once your hoverboard has a full battery, remove the charger from the socket immediately. Overcharging your hoverboard battery cause damage to it in the long run.
Supervise the charging of your hoverboard, and avoid charging it overnight, when it cannot be effectively supervised.
2. Charge Regularly
Charge your hoverboard battery to full capacity as often as you can. Poorly charged batteries do not last long.
Also, frequently using the hoverboard without a full battery reduces the battery capacity overtime.
3. Avoid Completely Draining the Battery
Once the battery indicator on your hoverboard shows that the battery is getting low, proceed straightaway to charge it.
Allowing the battery to completely drain out has an adverse effect on the lifespan of the battery. It could hamper performance.
It is advisable to carry your charger with you always to charge the hoverboard regularly and prevent it from draining out.
4. Use Only Original Battery Chargers
Always use the original charger that came with the hoverboard to charge your batteries. If you ever need to get a replacement charger, make sure you purchase one from an authentic source.
